Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to participate in your child's early education. It's such an exciting time of their life as they're growing and learning every day. We hope that they are enjoying their preschool experience!
I will be posting every other week on here with what we've been doing, upcoming curriculum your child will be working on, as well as other important news, so keep an eye out!
Here's What We've Been Up To:
During the first month of school, we focused on our fine motor skills such as using scissors, holding crayons/pencils properly, the "small" amount of glue and paint. You can work on these simple crafts at home as well! Let us know if you'd like some ideas or sheets!!
We are using the Rock Kids curriculum this year!! We have been working on keeping a steady beat - also called a steady quarter note pulse! We have been using the rhythm sticks to work on keeping the beat. We have talked about the tempo, and terms such as accelerando - speeding up & slowing down - ritardando. You can also ask them about their "I love to Rock" song with actions!!
Phonics & Learning:
We have discussed the letter A, B and C so far! Keep talking about words that start with these letters at home, as well as what sound they make! We have also worked together on putting our alphabet in order through flash cards and alphabet puzzles! We have been learning our days of the week song and months of the year song! We have practices holding pencils by drawing shapes and practice writing A, B and C.
We've been DANCING! Who doesn't love to dance? We have gone on outdoor adventures (when weather has cooperated) and played the animal game!!
What's Coming Up:
The next few weeks will bring us the letter D (and DINO WEEK), letter E and Halloween!!
We will be getting into more exciting crafts now that we've practiced using all of our supplies! Keep an eye on the calendar that was sent home (please let me know if you didn't get one) and bring in anything that it may say on the day your child attends!! We would love to use environmentally friendly materials like kleenex boxes, paper towel rolls, etc. for our crafts.
For the week of Halloween, please see the calendar as to when we're celebrating! Your child can dress up as much as they want the week of Halloween and you are welcome to bring treats (nut free please)! We will send the treats home with every child!! Please do not allow your child to bring a sword or weapon to school, even if it's part of the costume!
We are closed on Monday, October 9 for Thanksgiving!
Miss Lauren will be absent for surgery on Thursday, October 12 and is hoping to return on Wednesday, October 18. She will be sure to be in touch with the families of her classes if anything changes! Miss Rebecca will be subbing in St. Albert for her and Miss Marissa will be subbing in the afternoon's on North Side.
Please remember to send your child with nutritious, nut free, snacks!!
